McQueen Goes Extra Terrestrial

So I don't usually comment on fashion week or runway shows because, frankly, there are TONS of amazing fashion blogs that would do a better job than I. (Well Shod Well Informed, Style Bubble, Style Rookie, and Bryanboy to name a few)

But... BUT... this collection is just too amazing to keep my mouth shut about. The whole fashion world is abuzz with talk of how amazing McQueen looked in Paris.

I love how shockingly different this is. It's such a beautiful contrast to all the "safe" collections we have seen this season.
I can't help but wonder if these shoes were inspired by HR Geiger, because that's all I can think of when I look at it!

Anyway- I'll let the pictures do the talking...

This shape reminds me of a strange mix of sexy fetish footwear and alien like organic shapes. I'm half expecting the shoe to birth a litter of slimy creatures!

And look at that heel height!

The alien-esque hair and make up were outer worldly...

This grouping reminds me of robots or futuristic armor...

And finally- these shoes bring it home with a very "Geiger" feeling

...See what I mean?
What do YOU think?? I know few of us would actually wear these types of shoes but isn't it EXCITING to see such creativity?? Especially right now when it's so much easier to play it safe and be boooooring.
I feel like this is a collection that will be talked about for a long time to come. A piece of fashion history.

Designed Sealed and Delivered!

I recently started following fellow shoe designer Nicole LaFave on Twitter because I'm always interested in what the lives of other shoe obsessed girls are like. I don't know many shoe designers so it's always nice to see the process from someone else's point of view. I've read her updates and ventured to Omelle's website where I've stalked their blog and I must admit that I am truly impressed.

My interest in the brand started months ago when I saw fellow bloggers like Susie Bubble and Imelda writing their positive reviews on the collection. But I really got excited when I saw these perfectly simple yet perfectly sophisticated ankle boots. I adore them!
I love that detail on the heel is so rich and feminine.
Again, perfectly simple and beautiful. How cute would these be with some great tights? Love.

Then, I just got images of these adorable little envelope toe flats! So great right? What a cute little unexpected detail on a simple everyday flat.

And there is a great boot with the same creative detail.
Love these!! The more I read about the girls at Omelle the more I understand what they are about. Impeccable attention to design and detail.
Putting extra thought into something as simple as a sock. Super cheeky and sassy, just how I like it! ;)

("R" for right, left shoe has "L")

And their shoe bags! Now why didn't I think of that!? A shoe bag to actually carry your shoes around in...

Omelle launched with their Spring Summer 2009 collection so they are just getting started! I can't wait to see what they come up with in collections to come.

The Unattainable...

I was feeling very sassy today in my Barbie pink Louboutins and Sex and the City inspired belt. I was very happy to have these shoes back in my possession after my little mishap. They're good as new thanks SO much to my friends at the Louboutin boutique and their amazing shoe repair guy! :)

And speaking of my favorite store ever- I went to visit them and their new arrival today. The "Calypso".
I don't even know what to say about these shoes... They're just amazing and that's not really doing them justice. You should really go in and see them in person. They're magical.

They're black velvet with black and blue suede covered in Swarovski crystals ...drool... and with a whopping 160mm heel height. WOO! Sky high!
Unfortunately for me, they're about $3400 so in other words- they're unattainable. I'm glad to have pictures of them anyway so I can at least say I had shoes this great on my feet if only for a few minutes.

Embracing My Dark Side

So I realize that I've taken WAY to long to post these babies considering how in love with them I am so for that, I apologize.
Anyway- Today I jumped the gun on Fall... I just can't wait for colder weather I guess. It was an uncomfortable 80-something degrees today and I was regretting my outfit choice. Good thing I was in air conditioned rooms all day I suppose. ;)

Looking at my pictures I now realize that this sweater isn't at all flattering so no need to point that out. Haha. I kinda look like a potato.

(sweater-Brighton, leggings-F21, shoes- Christian Louboutin)

These shoes make me want to play up my darker side! I know there's all this black lipstick on the runways and in the magazines, but I just cant pull it off with my blonde hair. I opted instead for a super dark almost black plum, topped with a super sparkly bright pink to soften it up a bit. I'm also loving this black/gold instant smoky eye. Just rub it on and voilla!

(Dazzleglass Creme in Creme Allure, Satin Lipstick in Cyber AB8, and Mineralize Eye Shadow in Gilt By Association)

As for the shoes, they're as killer as they look! One of my favorite shoe quotes EVER is from Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes when she says "A lady never admits her feet hurt!"
Well, I won't admit it but I'll let my Hello Kitty ice pack do the talking...
