Heat Wave

I don't own a lot of expensive clothes because, well... I just can't afford them. Expensive shoes are bad enough, I can't imagine if I bought designer clothes too! Then I'd have to find a designer cardboard box to live in.

When I was in New York I went to Century 21 for some seriously discounted designer goods. It's pretty amazing there if you're willing to take time to dig for hidden treasures. For us West Coasters, think Lohman's but WAY bigger and with some seriously high end designers.

While digging I found some great Vivienne Westwood Anglomania stuff, including this...

It's like a flowy vest type thing but can be buttoned and belted and worn like this..

I love the bold print. I guess I'd describe it as a sort of baroque tribal print. The original price was outrageous! I think it was like $350 but Century 21's price was $160 and with my 50% discount (we sell to them so we get hooked up)... $80 Not bad, right?? I got a few other pieces from her that I just love. I got some great Marc by Marc stuff too :)

I love these clunky chunky shoes by Celine. They've taken quite a beating with me wearing them all Summer, but the leather wore in really nicely :)

The pop of color on the top inspired my to bust out my Heat Wave lipstick by NARS. Pretty appropriate since we are in the middle of a scorching heat wave!!

If You Don't Like Fur... You Won't like Fall

Accessory reports are showing that fur is huge for Fall 2010. Yikes.

Fur is bad enough on coats but at least you can say that they keep you warm. Fur on your feet??

According to top designers, yes.

If you ask me? No.

Gross gross gross. I'm all for a little shearling trim on a cool boot like this one from Burberry

But the following shoes are just silly. And cruel.

Celine (the design house, not me) has this option for those of you who just want fur between your toes. Sweaty.

Then, just when you think it couldn't get any more vulgar, Roger Vivier gives small defenseless animals a big ol middle finger and sticks a dyed pink fox face on a clutch. Classy.

Listen. I'm not an animal rights activist but fur has never really sat well with me. Even if these shoes were all faux fur, I still wouldn't like them cause they look silly.

What do you guys think about fur on shoes?? What is your stance on fur, if you have one?

This Shoe Has My Name on it...

... literally. It's by Celine. Unfortunately- me no likey. I do appreciate the beautiful craftsmanship of the shoe, (as cheesy as that may sound) but I hate the dingle thingy. It looks like a lanyard. You know, from summer camp? For such a sophisticated looking shoe I think it's an odd choice of ornament. Do you agree?

 

I do like the pop of color against the classic brown and white. Who knows, maybe someone more sophisticated (a nice way of saying older) could rock the shit out of this shoe. If you think you could, you can find it at net-a-porter, here for $900.
