Spring Fever!

Spring is coming I can feel it! And thanks to a few of my favorite runway items... I can see it too!

I am so happy and lucky to have my two favorite Spring runway shoes (posts comingsoon!!) and one of my favorite Spring accessories. This pink collar by Miu Miu is so dang cute I just had to! I can't afford a whole top form Miu Miu so I figured if I at least got the collar it would bring some Miu Miu runway to every outfit!! Add a cotton candy lollipop and a matching pink hair clip in and I've officially got Spring fever!

I'm really very proud of myself. I bought my first pair of "sensible" shoes from Monsieur Louboutin. They are honestly the most comfortable (non flat) shoes I own! I love them.

(jean leggings- Dylan and George, top- I forget but I got it at Intermix , sweater- BP)

We were lucky enough to go to Napa in my dad's friends (the Azrias) plane. Florence Azria is a fellow shoe blogger!! So cool.
We went for my oldest and dearest friend, and fellow shoe designer, Jessica Palermo's wedding to the AMAZING Marc Salomon. It was so beautiful I wanted to stay forever.

I wore one of my favorite dresses from the Rodarte for Target collection to the wedding. I love this dress even though my dad says it makes me look pregnant. Pshh. What does HE know? ;)
I'm also wearing Betsey Johnson shoes but you can;t really tell...

IMG_4473

My beautiful mom wore a Celine dress and Badgley Mischka shoes, my baby sis wore Betsey Johnson head to toe, and Katie there on the left is in Theory with Report ballet flats.

The bride wore Monique Lhuillier... and look STUNNING

It was such a beautiful wedding, and definitely the most fun wedding I've ever been to!

On the way home it was all work!

Just a little champagne ;)

I've always wanted to fly private and I wasn't sure if I ever would. It was as cool as I imagined and I hope to do it again some day.

The Clog Debate

Ever since I saw the girls clomping down the runway at Chanel's Spring 2010 show, I thought... Hmmm. Really? I've never liked clogs as there's nothing sexy about them and they are technically frumpy.

I remember even proclaiming that you would NEVER catch me in a pair of clogs. No matter who said they were cool!

Then I saw Miu Miu's clog...
Cute...ish. Still not sold.

But then these babies, also Miu Miu-

Kinda love them. Maybe because they're not opened up? I think they're really effin cool, though clearly too heavy for Spring.

This month's cover of British Vogue has Alexa Chung wearing clogs (Chanel I think) that she looks pretty great in. Then again, I personally think she looks great in most things.

So I've decided to go try some on tomorrow and see if I can get into it. This looks like a Spring trend that I will either have to pass on or try out in a cheaper way.

This one by Steve Madden seems OK and basic for a trial pair.

And of course, this beauty by Jessica Simpson that I should have bought before it sold out everywhere. Not a clog but clog-ish.

What do you all think? To clog or not to clog?? Will YOU be braving this trend or leaving it to the pros?

Oscar Wrap up...

Red Carpet Me

Did you like my dress? ;)

If you follow me on Twitter you know I was doing my version of live commentary throughout the entire pre-show on E! and the actual Oscars on ABC.
Here's a recap of my Tweets along with photos and some extra thoughts :)

Overall I was disappointed with the lack of shoes being shown, but the dresses were pretty amazing.

SOME OF MY TWEETS:
  • *Mariah Carey is DISGUSTING!!! Stop playing with your dress. Nobody wants to see your coochie!!! Jeeze bitch.
  • *Zoe Saldana looks amazinggggg. So pretty ♥
  • *Dear Mrs Cameron... Eat a damn cracker.
  • *I hope Mo'nique shaved her legs this time
  • *@ryanseacrest you forgot to ask Sigourney Weaver what she's wearing! I'm guessing its Lanvin but could be wrong.
  • *Ummm Miss Jay, how can we take your fashion advice seriously when you have silver spray paint hair?
  • *Stand up STRAIGHT Miley Cyrus!! My goodness.
  • *SJP... Do I love what you're wearing or don't I? Not sure yet but I DO know that your arms are bangin. Love u.
  • *Charlize Theron... Looks like two labias covering your tatas. Are you a movie star or a boobie star??
  • *Meryl Streep!!!!! Effing WERQ woman!!! Shit I love her!!!!!!!!!! Beeeautiful!
  • *Kate Winslet... I love you but SNORESVILLE... Zzzzzzz It's the#Oscars Spice it up. I suppose if you're not nominated it's ok be just ok
  • *Helen Mirrin looks so elegant. I hope I look that good when I'm grown up*
  • *Why does everyone think Jlo looks so great?? She looks like she's in lavender bubble wrap. Am I alone here??
  • *Did that chick just Kanye his speech??? WTF was that??
  • *Queen Latifah looks STUNNING! Go girl GO!
  • *I wish Kristen Stewart didn't always look so uncomfortable. You're famous bitch... get used to it.
  • *I think Meryl is my winner for most beautiful for the evening. She is glowing and glamorous and stunning and beautiful.

What I was talking about:

Let's start with miss slut bag Mariah Carey. Nasty. Please watch, and note at the beginning how she tries to flash us her crotch and Ryan Seacrest pulls her hand away... She continues to open her dress slit throughout the entire interview. Get a grip lady. You are not as hot as you think and you are too old for this shit.

Next up- Zoe Saldana in what I think was my favorite dress of the evening:

So girly! Sparkly and frilly... I'm in :)

Eat a cracker please...
She looked frail and sickly.

And Miss Mo did not, in fact shave. Apparently she just doesn't. Here's what I was talking about:
Mo'Nique at the Golden Globes. Yikes.

I guessed that she was in Lanvin and I was right-
Sigourney Weaver in a classic Lanvin style.

We're supposed to take a man who spray paints his hair silver seriously?
J Manuel was on E! giving us his opinion on the red carpet fashion.

Miley Cyrys would have probably looked great if she would have just stood up straight. She was practicing her hunchback all evening. Maybe she was trying to look high fashion?

I wasn't sure about SJP's dress last night and I'm still unsure. In this photo it looks like maybe she isn't sure either...

Here it was on Chanel's Haute Couture runway

Next up: Charleze Theron and the dress that I thought looked very... sexual. Are those vajayjays on her tatas??
Not into it.

Meryl Streep on the other hand... Perfection. I wish I had a video for her because this picture doesn't really do her justice. She was so elegant she took my breath away.

Kate Winslet may be beautiful and talented but her dress was BOOOOORING...

Helen Mirren... what an inspiration. I hope to look half this good at her age. What a beautifully elegant woman! What a cute couple too ;)

JLO came wrapped in Armani Privé lavender bubble wrap. What a bold fashion choice...
Bubble wrap... Bubble butt.

The "Miss Kanye" I was talking about. It was a pretty funny moment. It's funny because I tweeted that she Kanye'd his speech and that was exactly what tons of other people called it. I love that that is now a word.

The Queen WERQ'd!! She looked stunning!

Oh Kristen Stewart... Stop it with the awkwardness. You've got to get used to it or just stay home. If you saw her on stage you know what I mean.

So there it is. My Oscar wrap up. The highlight for me was Mariah Carey making and ass out of herself.
Hope you enjoyed!! What did you guys think?? Who were your favorites? Least favorites?

From Sketch to Shoe to Rejection

This shoe is one of my favorites and it's not being made. It happens way more often than I'd like unfortunately.
We rely on stores like Nordstrom and Macy's because without big orders, shoes just don't get made. That means that shoes that don't "fit in" at Nordstrom or Macy's don't usually get bought by their buyers.
Well apparently this shoe didn't fit what they think their customer would like. It's the nerdy shoe with a great personality that nobody picks to be on their team in P.E. cause she's not the cheerleader shoe. Don't worry nerdy shoe, the cheerleader shoe will peak early in life and get pregnant her first year of junior college.
Ummm. Ya.

It starts with an idea-
I saw this vintage lucite heel (that is not my wrinkly thumb) and thought it was so pretty and could be very Betsey.
Then, there was this Charlotte Olympia shoe that was such an amazing shape...

Based on these two things, plus the other ideas I had for a group of vintage inspired shoes, I drew a sketch...

betseyfall10_Page_08

I thickened the heel shape and changed the platform a bit. I added a sweet little bow as a maryjane strap.

lucite1

Then after a trip to China and a few prototypes, the real deal was finished!
100307-11 FUSHIA

Pretty awesome! :)

Unfortunately... we won't see it in stores. They didn't think you'd like it/buy it. Maybe they're right but I wish they would have tried.
